Keira reclaims her seat but her eyes keep going back to Garrett, trying to out his odd reaction. She is unaware that the girl seated behind her and over one row is watching HER with a disapproving expression.

At the end of the period, the bell goes off and students file out of the classroom. Keira remains seated, waiting for Erin as instructed. She watches as Garrett and his friends make their way out. He doesn’t look in her direction until they’ve already passed through, his expression cautious.
