Transition to a flashback from earlier that day. Keira and Erin are walking in front of a school building and are headed inside.

Narration: I was with this girl, Erin, on our way to class, when I saw this…THING blocking our way.

Keira is startled and hesitates, falling behind Erin. Between the two looms a dark cloud that seems to reach out towards students passing near it.

Narration: She passed through it without a problem. But something about it made me uneasy.
Erin, turning back: You coming, Keira?
Keira, with an awkward smile: Uh, you go ahead. I’ll catch up in a minute.
